The ‘songwriters in the round’ concept has been around for some time as a way for both burgeoning and seasoned artists to share their latest compositions with one another, or maybe even a small crowd of listeners-in. Usually taking place in an intimate setting with a single guitar or piano on hand, each songsmith takes their turn while the others listen. It’s a great idea and can make for a very enjoyable - albeit most always mellow - evening for all involved.
What if, though, you were to take some of those ingredients and throw them into a rock show setting? What if all those talented musicians jumped in on each others’ songs. Instead of a single guitar being passed around, it was the center stage mic that filled that role? The bass player becomes the piano player becomes the lead singer becomes the drummer becomes the bass player again... It’s a lot to try and navigate and that’s precisely why this kind of show doesn’t happen - until now...
